This blog is run by students in University of Wisconsin Whitewater’s Film 272 course. The content of this blog is based upon the discussion around the argument that Joss Whedon’s work contains feminist elements-set up through stereotypes and cut down-which alter the audience’s’ understanding of female characters either for better or for worse. Through various interpretations, one could reach the conclusion that the work perpetuates misogyny through stereotypes, or uses satire and irony to break down stereotypes. Both sides to the argument are represented.
